Ok maybe that’s not true, there’s a lot of different types. We have a diverse readership that pulls from many scenes.

Landlords is always changing. It depends on the weather, it depends on the atmosphere. There is no direction except forward.
We ride forward on the eternal current-the path we follow until we’re dust.
It’s a never ending shrine to the Cycling Gods. It’s our tribute to all that came before us. It’s visual prasadam.
You can use it, you can love it, you can hate it, you can be part of it or you can be an observer.
You can not ignore us.

I don’t even know what Bike Culture really is now. Even the concept of a sub-culture revolving around bikes is new. It’s changed so much. Some of it seems ridiculous, some of it seems awesome. Old ways are challenged, new ways are born. Adaptation is approved.
This is a document about the last 40 years. This is a blog about tomorrow. This is a blog about being yourself when everyone wants you to be someone or something else. This is a blog about fighting mediocrity. This is a blog for the youth as well as for the survivors.
This is a blog about believing in yourself and having the confidence to keep it moving. It’s a blog for pushing yourself. It’s a blog about staying alive. It’s a blog about honesty.
This is a blog about Global Unity. This is a blog about celebrating diversity in cycling. This is a blog against classism, racism, sexism and homophobia. This is a blog for the cyclists of earth.
All Pedals/No Brakes
…I read a cycling book a long time ago, it started out saying if you do not want to improve you will quit .
If there is no progress and there is no goal there is no motivation. If you think you’re the fastest or the best you will quit.
Undeserved self-satisfaction leads to complacency and depression.
This blog is fuel for you. The GS is a team for you.
We have our own Culture, it’s shocking to some, it’s just Landlords to us.
It’s not an exclusionary thing. It’s just our thing.
There’s an open invite, you just have to believe in it.

note: fat bikes suck. no fat bike rides in the GS please. haha. I mean we have to have some standards. 😉 And one of those standards is :
fat bikes are for nerds.
not to be snobby or anything but give me a break. keep those toy things out of the cities.

Just another thought about all of this: about the graffiti and hardcore music and track bikes and Straight Edge and bike messengers and being veg(etari)an and skateboarding
I do not want to give anyone the impression that at any point in time there was a lot of people into this stuff collectively. I couldn’t put a number on it in the mid late 1990’s. Under 10 total from every city in the US. Every time you subtract one of those elements the number grows.
When I write about this stuff I’m writing about my experience and the things I witnessed or participated in. So what you get is an East Coast United States centered perspective.
I’ve stated before but I want to make it clear in case you missed this:
New York and San Francisco were the two cities with the biggest, most advanced and most influential courier cultures. Racing, style, scene. Everyone else learned from them.
Also one other SF note:
In the mid to late 90’s Josh L from SF was far ahead of everyone in terms of knowledge, collecting and hustling of Italian Steel track bikes. His style influenced so many people. Including LL.
