NYC-Boston
After a couple months of unstructured riding I decided I had to do something. I had no idea what it was at the time but it had to be something big and it had to be meaningful. Cycling has had such an overwhelming positive effect on the rest of my life I had to remember why I loved it so much to begin with. So I decided to ride from SOHO to Boston in a day. I’d never come close to riding that far before so I had no idea what to expect really. And the fact that most of the riding I’d been doing looked like this:
made me feel a little uneasy about possibly getting stranded somewhere in Connecticut late at night.
My friend Tim from NYC VELO took some pictures before I left:
All in all it was exactly what I needed. Left at around 5am took 3rd ave north out of the city. Saw some homeless people having sex as I crossed the bridge around 129th st. Packed a handle bar bag full of snacks and a change of clothes and that was it. Wrote up a que sheet in case one of my 2 Garmins died. Made some wrong turns but never got lost. Stopped every 2 -4 hours for water and had 2 thirty minute food stops.
