Boston Scene – Final Word
Boston Messengers are repping hard. Boston has always had a rep for having a tough scene. Julian gives us some insight into the current culture and we finish off Jammie’s expansive drop.
“Glad to see Eric’s Boston flix. Thats my landlords poster, oxy acetylene tanks, gazelle track, reminton njs, orange colnago in the snow, etc.
Sold that one to a buddy for messenger friendly price. We are a super tight family in the scene out here. The traditions have been passed on through generations the old way. Rookies are never given a pass and brought up strong. Popularity on the internet is never rewarded like in some cities and venues. More often it is regarded as a sign of narcissism and shallow morals, and never translates to street cred. Pro messengers spent their time becoming pro messengers. Like a martial art. If you have internet fame or some other kind of bulllshit definition of yourself, you spent your time making that, not working hard as a messenger. Its a simple rule in identifying who can be trusted to get the job done when the fashion show is over. There’s no hiding your rank in a scene like Boston. We see you and if we don’t know you, your a rookie. Simple. Oh you messengered in what city? I’ve heard that one before. A lot of activity surrounds our Chinatown messenger/graffiti/hardcore loft that has been under messenger control for 25 years.”
